The 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion has become the newest member of Team Betfair Poker. Peter Eastgate will wear a Betfair logo at the 2012 WSOP Main Event in July where he makes his first appearance as a Team Betfair player.
Eastgate is a London native who walked away from poker in 2010, even going so far as auctioning off his WSOP bracelet for $147,500 with the proceeds all going to UNICEF. Before the WSOP Main Event final table in 2008, he signed with Team PokerStars - and left the team when he took his leave from the game.
In February of 2011, Eastgate returned to poker and was sponsored by PokerStars to play two events; the PokerStars.eu EPT Copenhagen and the NBC Heads Up Championship. Last April he cashed once on the tournament circuit where he placed 95th at the EPT Berlin Main Event, otherwise, it appears things have been quiet on the tournament scene surrounding Eastgate.
Now that Eastgate is wearing Betfair Poker's colors, he should be much more visible in the world of poker – both online and at live events. He says he now wants to play poker and have fun while he's doing it. A recent interview with Betfair will tell where he's been, what his plans are, and why he sold his bracelet.
