Tom Dwan Interview
CalvinAyre.com's Tatjana Pasalic recently caught up with high stakes, online cash game master, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, for an interview during the 2012 APT Philippines Manila Millions Event. In the interview Dwan shared his thoughts on the Asian poker games getting bigger everyday while the games in Europe and the United States are shrinking or at least staying the same.
“Definitely the amount and stakes in Asia are growing, where the amount and stakes in the US and Europe, if anything, are declining, maybe staying the same in some places.” Dwan said. “In Asia stakes are getting bigger everyday and more people are playing everyday.”
Pasalic also asked Dwan about the Full Tilt Poker (FTP) situation and would he rejoin the site, or any other online poker site for that matter, if the players are repaid. Dwan replied that he would be a lot more careful accepting a sponsorship deal from a poker site than he was before.
“There’s a lot of possibilities that could happen that would depend on some things,” Dwan said. “Definitely, I’ll be a lot more careful on any site that I join in the future to make sure they have all the money and that there’s no risk for the players to not get paid.”

Sahara to Become SLS Las Vegas
Rob Oseland, who worked alongside Steve Wynn in rebuilding some of Las Vegas' top hotels and casinos is now at it again. He's working on the Sahara resurrection project which should turn the legendary casino into a new SLS Las Vegas resort in two years. He did it before when he turned the Dunes into Bellagio and replaced the Desert Inn with Wynn and Encore, but will Oseland succeed again?
The first challenge Oseland faced was raising money for the new project. “When you're out on the street, raising investments for Las Vegas is not easy,” Oseland said. However, despite poor debt ratings Los Angeles' SBE Entertainment Group and Stockbridge Capital agreed to invest the biggest part of the needed $415 million in just a couple of weeks.
“People may look at what we did and say, ‘If they can get the money with no better debt rating, then there may be other opportunities for the right idea, the right concept, the right place with the right people,’” Oseland said.
Still, despite the doubts about the new SLS Las Vegas being built in the northern part of the Strip and huge competition in the business, Oseland believes in the success of the new SLS Las Vegas. “Steve Wynn showed that with the right combination of people, you can create destinations that are desirable and current,” he said.
