Everything concerning online poker, and even casino based events, seems to be of EPIC proportions these days and so it is with Epic Poker and the Heartland Poker Tour which was recently purchased off the auction block by Pinnacle Entertainment. Most poker players – especially in the United States – are very familiar with Black Friday, but what about the Blue Monday Sting? Pinnacle Entertainment Acquires Epic Poker and Heartland

After being in business only seven months, in February Federated Sports & Gaming (FS + G) Inc. filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. This week the assets of FS + G, which included the Epic Poker League, the Global Poker Index, the EpicPoker.com website and the Heartland Poker Tour (HTP) were auctioned off.

The auction at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland was held on Wednesday and Thursday and ended with Pinnacle Entertainment being the high bidder.

The winning bid for the HPT was $4.2 million, and FS+G's other assets went for $300,000. The HPT seems to be on solid ground, but what the sale means for the Epic Poker League remains to be seen. Read the full story on PokerNews.com.

Black Friday Spawns Blue Monday Sting

Every poker player in the US knows what went down on Black Friday, but have you heard about Blue Monday? While the events surrounding the Black Friday fiasco are well known, not many people know that just three days later, Blue Monday saw seizures focusing mainly on sportsbook operations. Although indictments were handed down targeting specific “online sports-betting” companies, the sting called “Operation Texas Hold 'em” resulted in the skins of the Yatahay Network having their poker room domain names seized, including Doyle’s Room.

Who is the Secret Poker Playing Millionaire?

It is impossible to turn on the TV without being bombarded by “reality shows.” On any given night you can watch shows about bakers, singers, alligator hunters, and pawn brokers, just to name a few. One of the newer offerings from the UK is ‘The Secret Millionaire’ on ABC, where millionaires go incognito into impoverished communities where they give away thousands of dollars and help the less fortunate.
