After all the talk, after teasing us with a spectacular video of a zillion kazillion players getting together to rumble at Wembley Stadium in 2012 and playing for part of an absolutely unheard of €20,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, after all is said and done, the announcement we’ve all been waiting for is here! The first edition of the International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) online and live poker tournament, that will forever change the course of poker history, is scheduled to start on May 31st and run to June 6th, 2013. Yes...at Wembley Stadium in London.
The spectacular video:
The video does give you the feeling that you want to be there, to suck it all up and experience the atmosphere of such a massive event, doesn’t it? You can almost feel the adrenalin rip through you so fast and hot that the roof of the universe might blow off, right?
In case you get the chance, here's how it works: 30,000 players from around the world will play online to win a seat at Wembley Stadium. At the start players will fight it out in a round on laptops, and then the top 3,000 players join around poker tables set out on Wembley's lawn for the final four days of the tournament.
Combine the creative thinking of Laurent Tapie and Prosper Masquelier, Partouche Interactive former president, and the financial support of French businessman, Bernard Tapie, and Masquelier had this to say, “We hope that this event will be fondly remembered by the participants and that it breaks all records in the matter.”
“We had to consider an exceptional set up, a location that can host 30 000 people. Wembley seemed like the perfect option," Laurent Tapie said. “This is a huge challenge, but we have strong partners and will to make our ambitions come true."
The inaugural ISPT is planned to begin on the Wembley lawn but in the event of bad weather, there are 12,000 square meters of covered rooms reserved inside the stadium that have been reserved. Levels will run 20 minutes at the beginning of the tournament during online play - with starting stacks at €5,000 and blinds at 10/20. A €600 buy-in with a rebuy and double add-on during the first day of play is a possibility.
If you miss the online part of the tournament? Join in directly to the live tournament with a €6,000 buy-in – there are 1,000 spots reserved – and will begin with the average of chips of the online qualified players.
Groupe Partouche will run the live part of the ISPT. Groupe Partouche runs 55 casinos in France and abroad and is the leading online poker tournament organizer in Europe. The inaugural ISPT event will be broadcast in more than 50 countries. Plans are already on schedule by organizers to run one ISPT world class tournament in a different part of the world every year.
