Bodog Poker will terminate service to 20 nations later this month and customers have been advised to withdraw the funds in their account before the company's service stops.
The TwoPlusTwo forums have several emails posted that were sent by Bodog Poker's customer support team in the last few days. Bodog advises players to contact the customer service team at firstname.lastname@example.org.UK before August 30th to withdraw the balance in their accounts. After August 31st, players' account balances will be adjusted to $0 in order to "protect their funds."
In December of 2011 Bodog rebranded to Bovada.lv in the United States and left Spain's market in March of this year before a new regulated online gambling market was launched in that country.
PokerNews.com received the following statement on Monday from a Bodog representative:
The only countries affected are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan. We feel it is better to concentrate on our strengths & where we can offer the best product.
The Bodog brand is known for its high level of customer service & spreading ourselves too thinly to try and cover a huge amount of smaller markets was proving logistically difficult. Bodog.co.uk will concentrate on growing existing markets.
In recent months the Bodog brand's strategic focus has shifted toward the Eastern Hemisphere; June found the Bodog Poker Network being sold to Bodog88 which is the Asia-facing arm of the brand. The company issued a press release that Bodog88 would be able to take the business to the next level in Asia with the completion of its business-to-business software, and the acceptance of a recreational poker model by the online poker industry.
