PokerNews.com received news from Eric Hollreiser, PokerStars' head of corporate communications, on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, that Viktor "Isildur1" Blom was no longer a member of Team PokerStars Pro. Blom and PokerStars mutually agreed that the expired sponsorship agreement would not be renewed.
"In his short time as a poker player, Viktor has played against the biggest names in poker at the highest stakes in the toughest games," said Hollreiser. "It’s hard to recall a player who has kept the poker world so riveted at such an early stage of his career. We’ll be watching with great interest and we wish him nothing but success."
During the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Isildur1 was revealed as Viktor Blom when he was introduced as a member of Team PokerStars. The true identity of Isildur1 was a mystery until that time although Tony G contributed to the media mainstream early on that it was Viktor Blom and Tony invited Blom to play the PartyPoker Big Game and offered to stake him. Viktor Blom rocked the online poker world with his up and down swings on Full Tilt Poker in high stakes games against the world's best before signing with PokerStars.
Blom commented on his departure from PokerStars, "I’ve enjoyed my time as a Team Pro and I wish everyone at PokerStars the best. Now I just want to concentrate on playing poker."
