The International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) is going to change the way the world views poker as it establishes the first poker event that utilizes both an online and live poker tournament in one. The inaugural ISPT debuts on May 31 through June 6, 2013, at the legendary Wembley Stadium in Great Britain. Wembley is not only the biggest stadium in England but also one of the biggest in the world with seating capacity of 90,000.
The ISPT was established by Bernard Tapie, his son Laurent Tapie and Prosper Masquelier and the first edition of the annual ISPT is expected be televised across 28 countries.
The spectacular event overview
The concept is simple, 30,000 players from all over the world will get together at Wembley Stadium and compete on their laptops. Then the 3,000 remaining players square off around poker tables set up on the lawn of Wembley for the last four days of the tournament. While the concept is simple, the production of bringing the whole feat together is mind boggling.
Players will start with 5,000 in chips with levels running 20 minutes and blinds starting at 10/20 during the online segment of the game.
The online event buy-in is €600, with a rebuy and double add-on option during the first day. The option to buy in directly to the live tournament is available for €6,000 - 1,000 places have been reserved. Poker players with a direct buy in start the live tournament with the average stack of the online-qualified poker players.
Confirmed to play in this inaugural event are the official ISPT ambassadors, Sam Trickett, David Benyamine, Michael Mizrachi and Liz Lieu:
