NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship First-Round Matches

The 2013 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship starts today, January 24th, 2013. The draw party to determine the first-round matches took place on Wednesday. Competitors were divided into four regions, appropriately deemed Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades.

On Wednesday, Daniel Negreanu opted out of playing the event which brought the addition of David "Doc" Sands to the mix. Jennifer Harman is also out of the competition, and Tom Marchese will be filling the spot she left open.

Action is scheduled to start at around 2:00 p.m. PST beginning with the Spades bracket, and the other three regions will follow later today. Here's a look at the first set of matchups:
