Super Poker Sunday: "benislovas" takes down 7th Anniversary Sunday Million

Sunday marked the seventh anniversary of the PokerStars Sunday Million - the most celebrated weekly tournament in online poker. PokerStars put a $7 million guaranteed prize pool up for grabs in the tournament and the winner's purse would be at least $1 million. More than 49,000 runners joined the race to make it the third largest Sunday Million ever.

Lithuania's "benislovas" took home all the glory after more than 15 hours of play. "benislovas" scored $848,589 after a three-way deal took place at the final table. David "sexygee" Gent, a high-stakes cash game player, finished in second place for $836,324 with Germany's "Kasra84" locking up $813,370 for third place.

The regular Sunday majors on PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker found the following notables collecting big scores: Vadim "vadka" Shlez, Jon "EMSBas" Spinks, Jim "Mr_BigQueso" Collopy, and Brandon "CompleteDonk" Barnes who won more than $110,000 combined with two major final table finishes.

Sunday's massive event found the following notables finishing in the money: Mike "goleafsgoeh" Leah (1,876th - $887); Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen (754th - $1,183); Nicolas "niccc" Chouity (555th - $1,479).

Others notables that made deep runs were Flavius "puicachamp" Puica (45th - $8,872), Joris "Tyren0" Ruys (101st - $4,732), and Steve "HR_Dub" Williams (266th - $2,859).

David "sexygee" Gee, headlined the final table and was ready to add a Sunday Million title to his victories in the Sunday Second Chance and Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) at PokerStars. Gent was on the heels of "benislovas" when the cards went in the air.

Gent refused a nine-way deal at the final table and "Heminsley" hit the rail first. "Heminsley" went all-in preflop with a three-bet holding {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and was called by the original raiser, "n0rflip," who was behind with {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

But the {6-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} put "Heminsley" behind and he would need a non-spade queen to take the lead. The {10-Spades} on the turn gave "n0rflip" a flush and "Heminsley" was gone in ninth place.

The next knockout took a while but when it hit, it started a landslide of busted players. "rewgr343" left in eighth place - busted by "benislovas," and then in the next seven hands four players hit the landslide: Andrey "2outs4cake" Lidgey (7th — $117,303), "stradale430" (6th — $181,376), "pellompogos" (5th — $254,321), and "n0rflip" (4th — $358,809). The final three would play for a massive payday of $1.2 million, but it was deal time - they left $10,000 on the table for the winner and each would be guaranteed at least $700,000.

"Kasra84" was the next when his {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} failed to improve against "benislovas" pocket fives.

It took only seven hands to finish the battle when the Lithuanian used his three-to-one chip lead over Gent. With a min raise on the button by Gent, "benislovas" called to see the flop of {9-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. "Benislovas"check-called a 10,000 bet and the {4-Hearts} hit the turn. "Benislovas" checked again - Gent bet 20,000. This time, he got a check raise from his opponent which was enough to put him all-in. Gent called to show the {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts} against the {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, but the {10-Hearts} on the river gave "benislovas" tens and the Sunday Million title.
