Poker lovers have been entertained each summer when poker's biggest name players and some of the most established stars of the game meet up at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and buy into a $25,000 fantasy poker game. Watching is fun and entertaining but grabbing a front row seat to the action is what the game is all about!
Zokay Entertainment, Global Poker Index's parent company, recently signed an agreement that puts Fantasy Poker Manager as the official fantasy poker game of the WSOP for the next three years at the least.
Facebook was the launching pad for Fantasy Poker Manager's beta form in January, 2013. It became an instant hit and with 20,000 users became the most used fantasy poker application — which included the majority of the top 300 ranked players of the Global Poker Index. Fantasy Poker Manager is the official fantasy poker game of the World Poker Tour and the new agreement brings even more to the table as Zokay hopes to have over 100,000 teams registered when the 2013 WSOP kicks off.
CEO of Zokay Entertainment, Alexandre Dreyfus, had this to say: "It is an honor for us to be recognized as the exclusive fantasy game of the World Series of Poker. We plan to continue our investment into Fantasy Poker Manager to make sure that poker fans get the best fantasy poker experience possible and are completely entertained during this year’s WSOP."
WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said: "We know that many of our players and WSOP fans love the idea of fantasy poker. Now they have a great tool on Facebook that lets them compete with other fans around the world."
Players that are ranked in the top 300 in the GPI are going to receive special benefits and privileges at the 2013 WSOP as part of the three-year deal — look for an announcement at a later date as to what those perks are.
You can start building your poker fantasy team right now for the upcoming WPT Barcelona Main Event and then pick your team for the World Series of Poker Asia Pacific if you don't want to wait for the WSOP.
