The 2013 World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific Caesars Cup is in the spotlight for poker news coming out of Melbourne, Australia as 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem just released first two picks for Team Asia-Pacific. Hachem has chosen Jeff Lisandro, a five-time WSOP gold bracelet winner, and Jackie Glazier, Australia's top all-time female money winner.
Lisandro brings a strong record to the team and by looking at his tournament standings, it's easy to see why Hachem chose him. He claimed his first bracelet in 2007 in the $2,00 Seven-Card Stud event. In 2009 Lisandro won three WSOP bracelets in Las Vegas by capturing gold in the $10,000 World Championship Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo, the $1,500 Seven-Card Stud, and the $2,500 Seven-Card Razz. In 2010 Lisandro picked up his fifth bracelet at WSOP Europe when he won the title in the £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha.
Glazier has live tournament earnings that total more than $950,000 in her career to date, and sits 19th on the Australian all-time money list — holding the honor of being the top woman on that list. She's also one of the most recognizable faces on the Australian poker scene. The 2013 WSOP's $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em found her taking home $458,996 when she finished runner-up.
Although Sam Trickett, captain of Team Europe, hasn't announced any picks yet, Phil Ivey announced his Team Americas for the rapidly approaching competition on Friday, April 5th, and Hachem posted his two picks on Monday through Twitter. It's rumored that Hachem is waiting for his final two picks to physically arrive in Melbourne before he announces who will fill the last two slots.
