Macau Poker Cup opens Friday in PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams

PokerStars announced the launch of their branded live poker room — PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams back on February 21st, 2013. This Friday, April 19th, at 3 p.m. local time, the doors will open and the games will begin.

The famed Macau Poker Cup kicks off on April 19th-28th and the room opens to the beat of the launch. PokerStars expects the 18th installment of the series to be the biggest and best ever. The HK$11,000 (approx. $1,500) Red Dragon Main Event boasts a huge HK$5,000,000 (approx. $650,000) guarantee and that's just the tip of the cash-scalator that's running with the series.

When the announcement of the new room came from PokerStars earlier this year, PokerStars Director of Live Operations for Asia-Pacific Danny McDonagh had this to say: “The PokerStars online brand drives more traffic to live poker events than any other. Players know that PokerStars is synonymous with integrity and high quality. That makes this collaboration a natural fit because City of Dreams has been at the forefront in providing the most innovative and premium gaming experience that is second to none in Macau."

The region's top players confirmed their attendance already and the list includes: Team PokerStars Pros Bryan Huang, Vivian Im, Raymond Wu and Celina Lin. Lin was the first female to win the Macau Poker Cup Main Event — earning that title back in 2009, and she became the very first player to make it a double as champion when she took the title again in 2012.
