Justin Oliver won his first WSOP bracelet after surviving a field of 566 runners when Event #38 of the 2013 WSOP kicked off. Two full days of play brought only eight survivors to the tables for Day 3.

Final Eight Results

1Justin Oliver$309,071
2Nick Schwarmann$191,434
3Jared Jaffee$129,447
4David Pham$89,736
5John Juanda$54,770

David “The Dragon” Pham started Day 3 as chip leader and he was looking to take home WSOP bracelet number three. Five-time bracelet winner John Juanda was also alive on Day 3.

With four players at each table, the play was fast and extremely aggressive. Heads-up play started with Schwarmann packing a massive lead against Oliver — approximately 6-1. But Oliver prevailed on the 69th hand of heads-up action to take over the chip lead.

They played on to the 126th hand after the start of heads-up play; Oliver raised to 60,000 and Schwarmann raised to 175,000. Oliver raised to 350,000, and Schwarmann called. Both players checked the {5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} board and the {K-Clubs} fell on the turn. Both players checked. The river {6-Diamonds} sent Schwarmann to move all-in, Oliver called and turned over the {K-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for top pair and Schwarmann showed a missed draw with the {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

Oliver raced over to his girlfriend and dog on the rail: “WTF just happened?”
