2013 World Championship of Online Poker Schedule Set

PokerStars WCOOP 2013

PokerStars has set the schedule for the 2013 World Championship of Online Poker. The world's biggest online poker tournament series is set to run from September 8th through the 29th, and is going to rock with 66 events and $40 million in guaranteed prizes — making it the biggest one ever.

The Main Event starts off on September 29th — $5,200 No Limit Hold'em scheduled for two days — and features an $8 million guarantee. The guarantee kicks the prize pool up to $3 million more than last year. The lucky player that takes first place of the WCOOP Main Event will take home at least $1.25 million.

Russian player “Marat "maratik" Sharafutdinov” famously stated at the final table of the WCOOP Main Event last year, that he “wont million.” A deal was made but Sharafutdinov did indeed take home $1 million. Starting with 40 Frequent Player Points, Sharafutdinov made a run all the way to a $5,200 seat. Notables that have won the WCOOP Main Event include the World Series of Poker Main Event final table chip leader JC “area23JC” Tran (2006), and Yevgeniy “Jovial Gent” Timoshenko (2009).

Two-time WCOOP bracelet winner and Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier had this to say about the WCOOP, “The World Championship of Online Poker is definitely the biggest online tournament series of the year. My goal is to try and play as many events as possible and regain the overall leadership in bracelets. I think Dan Kelly has four, so I really would love to have five, but it’s a long way to go.”

PokerStars not only hosts the world's biggest online tournament festival and gives out WCOOP bracelets, but also rewards the top performers in the series. The 2013 leader board winner is going to take home a trophy, a 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package, and main event tickets to: 2014 Turbo Championship of Online Poker, Spring Championship of Online Poker, and WCOOP Main. These incredible gifts pack a whopping combined value of more than $33,000. Players that finish in the top 10 also pick up incredible opportunities to build their bankroll with TCOOP, SCOOP, and WCOOP tickets — depending upon their specific finishing position. With the impressive range of buy-in levels — from the $109 “Kickoff” to the $10,300 High Roller Heads-Up and 8-Game events — it's anyone's game; winning one or placing in a money position is ammunition to play more tournaments. Online poker satellites are now running for each event, explore all the options and put your hat in the ring for a run through the WCOOP that could find you winning life-changing money.
