Online poker is the Game of the Future

For at least 30 years most of us that have been involved in poker, on a daily basis, have heard that Omaha is 'the game of the future.' We're still waiting. When No Limit Hold'em became a household world after the World Poker Tour took over the poker landscape, Omaha was a distant memory within a millisecond or so.

With No Limit Hold'em out in front by at least a half a universe, you could be wondering what the real game of the future is. In this writer's opinion, it's Poker...more specifically, online poker!

Online poker is coming! The tidal wave of excitement and challenges it presents to every player at all skill levels should force the world governments to fund an extensive study (with leaders from those world governments having to gather and play poker as part of the study) where the benefits of the game are rated against the negative side of the game. At the end of the study, it's quite possible that every country in the world would have mandatory poker classes in their schools.

Poker lessons are not always strategy lessons. In fact, some of the key traits a person needs to possess to be above the masses are: Discipline, money management, investing, gains and losses in income, pride, anger management, personal relationships, honesty, time management, integrity, and protecting the game. Those traits are exactly what should be taught in schools. That’s exactly what those world leaders would learn…the fundamentals of life are the fundamentals a good poker player carries with them.

Why is online poker the game of the future? Online poker will soon be back in full swing in the United States as more states enter the poker pool – the federal government will get involved and iron it all out (hopefully in a good way). Once again the rest of the world will find the game more exciting and profitable because of the new blood entering the online poker pool, which will, in turn, bring in more people from the rest of the world.

Online poker is the true game of the future. Casino poker rooms are much harder to get to and the lists for tables can be quite long at times, with some rooms breaking down to one table of your favorite limit, or closing down for the night due to lack of patronage.

Security at an online poker room is top of the line - you don't have to enter or leave the building with your bankroll in your pocket. It's easy to check hand histories in online poker if there's a problem in your game.

You earn frequent player points in cash games and tournament buy-ins which add up to valuable cash and merchandise, including cash paying tournament buy-ins that could find you winning life-changing money. There are more benefits in online poker but those depend on the site you elect to play at and in a way, it's like getting paid to play.

The first lesson you should learn in poker school today is that online poker is going to explode soon and the time to start honing your skills is now .
