The news hit on Wednesday, October 9th, 2013, that Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst will play the $125,000 buy-in Premier League Poker VII Main Event in Montreal at the Playground Poker Club. The highly anticipated Premier League runs from November 20th through the 26th and Selbst will join other poker greats such as Tony G, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Jeff Gross, and others that have already confirmed their attendance.

Selbst played the preliminary rounds in the Premier League in 2011 but failed to score enough points to qualify for the eight-handed final table. This is her second appearance and of course she's going to see if she can finish at the top this time.

”I had so much fun playing the Premier League in 2011 — it’s such a fun, innovative, and mentally-challenging structure," Selbst told the partypoker Blog. I’m excited it has come to North America and thrilled to be able to play it again, especially in a new short-handed format.”

The 12 players will be split into two groups of six, according to partypoker, where each will play in preliminary heats to earn a spot at the final table. The winner will claim a top prize of $350,000 and join the likes of Juha Helppi, Andy Black, JC Tran, David Benyamine, Scott Seiver and Dan Shak as champions of the prestigious event. Shak won the Premier League VI earlier this year for $450,000 after defeating Sam Trickett heads-up for the title.

Selbst holds two World Series of Poker bracelets and several other major tournament titles and isn't even close to slowing down. As a matter-of-fact, she appears to be picking up steam — last month she finished second in the World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open for $492,000, and this week she claimed victory in the UKIPT London High Roller for £67,499. The 29-year old Selbst's total live tournament earnings are over $8 million which puts her 36th on the all-time money list.

Kara Scott will anchor the Premier League VII television coverage while Jesse May leads the commentary with several guest analysts joining him in the booth.
