Friday, October 11th, saw the start of the two week festival in Enghien-les-Bains, France, just north of Paris, known as the 2013 World Series of Poker Europe. Eight gold bracelets are up for grabs and the premier €10,450 Main Event puts the finishing touches on the series as one of the most star-studded fields in the poker world gathers to fight it out for the gold. The €1,100 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em event is the first event in the series.

After spreading the WSOP Europe in Cannes for two years, the WSOP announced last December that it was moving the WSOP Europe to Paris. The Casino Barrière Enghien-les-Bains facility has been newly renovated and one big area will be able to provide everything during the series — all the table action — plus a 500-seat theatre will provide plenty of room for the final tables and television production. Look for television coverage on ESPN and Eurosport for viewing around the world.

The 2013 WSOP Player of the Year award is a hot topic as the battle continues for a winner with 2013 WSOP $50,000 Poker Players' Championship winner Matthew Ashton leading the way and five-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu breathing down his neck.
