The ceremony for the 13th GPI European Poker Awards will be hosted by the Global Poker Index on January 29th, 2014, at the Casino Barriere. As a stand-alone event the awards ceremony is going to be hosted in conjunction with the PokerStars European Poker Tour Deauville event that runs from January 22nd to February 1st.

Poker52 Europa is a partner organizer with the GPI and the decision was made to hold the event at the Salle des Ambassadeurs at Casino Barriere during the EPT — the event has been dubbed a "rendez-vous for all of the poker industry."

More than 200 guests attended last year's awards ceremony and this year the event is expected to be even bigger. This year's celebration will find industry professionals and poker players representing European poker from all over and year the sponsorship honors go to PokerStars and Lucien Barriere Hôtels et Casinos.

The GPI's points-scoring system is the standard for the European Player of the Year which is also the main award given at the ceremony. Gus Hansen received this award in 2012 for his live career successes. Other awards will be given for Best Tournament Performance, Rookie of the Year, Internet Player of the Year, and Europe's Leading Lady.
