Since PokerStars launched its Facebook app earlier this year, players have had the option to purchase play-money chips for real money. Players in the United States are also eligible to buy play-money chips at PokerStars. Play money cash games are available when players launch the PokerStars Facebook App; those games include Zoom Poker — Sit-N-Go and multi-table tournaments.

According to, chips and prices are as follows: $1.99 buys a player 350,000 play money chips while $9.99 puts 2 million into their player account. According to the play money cashier page, the most popular package is 7.5 million play chips for $24.99. The package with the most value is 165 million play chips for $199.99.

The play money tables at PokerStars have limits as low as 1/2 and go all the way up to 5M/10M. New players and jurisdictions that do not allow real-money online poker — the United States for one — can play at PokerStars in play-money games. PokerStars starts players’ play-money accounts with 1,000 play-money chips in their accounts. Play-money players have the option to reload their accounts up to three times per hour if they lose their chips in cash games or tournaments.

Play-money games are not to be taken lightly at PokerStars, the competition is tough and winning is the name of the game — the higher stakes play-money games are as fiercely fought as games in a real-money environment.
