The 2014 Aussie Millions Main Event will become a part of the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) according to an agreement that was made between the poker giants. The news hit on Tuesday, November 19th, 2013, and should add to the excitement of the 16th annual Aussie Millions which kicks off on January 23rd, 2014. The A$10,600 Main Event begins on February 2nd and included in the schedule is a high-limit players’ dream — a A$25,000 Challenge, A$100,000 Challenge, and A$250,000 Challenge.

"The Aussie Millions is regarded as one of the marquee poker events globally," Crown Resorts Chief Operating Officer Xavier Walsh said in a statement. "And by aligning with the biggest poker tour in the region, the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour, will further guarantee the event's success in coming years."

Walsh added, "‘This initiative will provide Crown with significant exposure in Asia, Europe and America, and forms an integral part of Crown’s global marketing strategy to attract further international visitors to Australia and Crown Melbourne."

The APPT literally transformed tournament poker in Asia in its first five seasons after becoming a must-attend event since 2007. The first poker tournament to run in Macau, hosting Asia’s first televised poker tournaments, and the first $1 million first-place prize in Australia are all the result of the APPT’s efforts in taking tournament poker to a new level. The tour is now in Season 7, and includes stops in the Philippines, South Korea, Macau, New Zealand, and Australia.

"The Aussie Millions becoming part of the APPT is a great fit for both Crown Melbourne and Global Poker Tours Ltd," APPT President Danny McDonagh said. "Linking one of the best tournaments in the Asia-Pacific with the region’s biggest poker tour benefits everyone. Personally, I can't wait to again be actively involved in one of the very top big buy-in events in the world."
