Not only is Bernard Lee a RunGoodGear Team Pro, anESPN.com writer, and a media personality, he also puts his energies towards helping others in The Full House Charity Program. Lee partnered with Chili’s Grill and Bar Restaurants and his poker apparel sponsor RunGoodGear to bring more than 50 children holiday packages worth about $200 each at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center.
"I hope these packages make the holidays a little brighter for these deserving families. My family and I look forward to this special night every year, when we can help spread the joy of the holiday season," said Lee. "The sole purpose of the Full House Charity Program Giving is to give back to the community and put smiles on the faces of these children and their families."
Dr. Jeffrey S. Geller, director of Integrative Medicine and Group Programs at the health center says, "Bernard’s gift giving has become a wonderful tradition for our Empowerment Group Program participants and their families at GLFHC. The children really appreciate his thoughtfulness and generosity with the gifts he gives."
The families gift package included the following: a gift certificate for a family meal at Chili’s, the children's packages each had Chili’s drawstring sports sacks, winter clothing including RunGoodGear.com sweatshirts, books that included Sports Illustrated for Kids magazines, board games, sports balls and toys. Eastern Poker Tour hosts pub poker tournaments across New England and the tour also got in on the action by contributing toys and games for each package. Lee went the extra mile by honoring specific requests he received from every child.
Tana Karn, president and CEO of RunGoodGear.com said, "When Bernard asked us to get involved with The Full House Charity, it was an instant call."
Chili’s partnered with The Full House Charity for the last two seasons.
"Joining Bernard and partnering with the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center is a way for us to reach out and help provide an enjoyable holiday for parents and children alike. This is our second season and Chili’s appreciates the opportunity to participate in providing some holiday cheer," said Patrick McClelland, area director of Chili’s-Pepper Dining Inc.
Lee’s charity program launched in February 2011, and this year Lee and his son and daughter met to hand out holidays packages to more than 20 families and their children.
Located in Lawrence, Mass., The Greater Lawrence Family Health Center's focus is centered on improving and maintaining the health of individuals and families by providing high quality health care services.
