Last year Nevada became the first state to launch online poker in the United States and two online poker sites opened their virtual doors within a few months of the legalization. Those two sites are Ultimate Poker and WSOP.com. A report out by USPoker.com, says that Real Gaming is going to fill spot #3 with a real-money launch planned in the near future.
The debut of SouthPointPoker.com was announced by Michael Gaughan, owner of the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, announced the debut of SouthPointPoker.com in October 2011. It was to become the first free-play online poker site launched by a casino-based and state-regulated property. South Point received preliminary approval to offer real-money online poker as an operator, manufacturer, and service provider. Las year South Point Poker was rebranded as Real Gaming but it is still backed by the South Point Casino.
The use of Real Gaming poker software operates a bit differently than the other two Nevada based online poker sites. Currently in soft launch, one of the first differences in the poker program is there is no download required as the software operates directly in all major browsers. The second difference is that a mobile app — available in both the App Store and for Android — must be downloaded to verify a player's location.
Players must follow the steps listed below in order to play:
- Make sure you have the Real Gaming App installed on your iPhone or Android phone.
Download at realgaming.com/locate
- Login to RealGaming.com and select a game to play in the Lobby.
- Click the "SMS" button and you will be sent a Text Message. (You must already have Verified your account.)
- Click the link in the Text Message to launch the "Real Gaming" location app on your phone. Once the app says "Get My Token," push that and then enter the token you receive from the app into the game.
The site has plans to offer both tournaments and cash games. No multi-table tournaments are scheduled currently.
At this time there are no promotions offered. Deposits can be made by players on the site — electronic checks, traditional check, and bank wire are accepted and the only way to withdraw is a check by mail.
