The first two and a half weeks of October will find the poker world focusing on Melbourne, Australia as the hunt for gold starts in the 2014 World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific! This highly anticipated poker festival takes off on October 2nd-18th with 10 gold bracelets waiting for those who stand at the top of the fields that gather for the action, fame, and fortune!
The event will, once again, be hosted at Crown Melbourne and the 2014 WSOP Player of the Year race will find its champion also.
"Bigger and better is the best way to describe the 2014 WSOP Asia-Pacific," said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart in the press release. "New events at modest price points like the Dealer's Choice and Terminator No-Limit Hold’em, plus an expansion of overall events and a move to springtime in Melbourne is designed to encourage the North American and European contingent to make this a can’t-miss event. Plus, we have secured the most comprehensive live television coverage in both the U.S. and Australia for both the Main Event and High Roller."
The AU$10,000 Main Event starts on October 12th and the AU$25,000 High Roller on October 15th with the television coverage Stewart mentioned in the press release. The two events will run with a one-hour delay on ESPN television on October 17th and 18th in both Australia and the U.S. The WSOP also reported, "The live television window includes 6-8 hours of coverage a day, meaning nearly every hand of the final table of each the Main Event and High Roller will be seen by viewers around the globe."
"We are really excited that the WSOP Asia-Pacific is returning to Melbourne," said Gus Seebeck, ESPN’s General Manager of Australia and New Zealand. "It's a fantastic event and ESPN's expanded coverage will bring poker fans around the world even closer to the action."
The buy-ins start at AU$1,100 and go up to AU$25,000. The excitement starts on October 2nd when the AU$1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Accumulator brings the heat to Melbourne! This event should bring a massive field of players to the tables due to players being allowed to join in any or all of the starting flights and Day 2 will find ALL THE CHIPS accumulated by a player in all starting flights converging into one stack!
The AU$10,000 Main Event begins on October 12th with two starting days. Daniel Negreanu won the Main Event in 2013 to claim his fifth gold bracelet and take home AU$1,038,825.
