Mandalay Bay's Moorea Beach Club Beachside Casino in Las Vegas supplied the setting for Tiger’s Poker Night presented by the World Poker Tour. The beneficiary of the star-studded poker tournament was The Tiger Woods Foundation. Poker tournaments bring a variety of players to the tables but this one in particular found some of the biggest names in poker rubbing elbows with some of the biggest celebrities in the film industry. The exclusive, 50-person event ran on Friday, May 16th, with a $10,000 buy-in.
The star-studded event included: Tiger Woods; Dallas Mavericks owner and star of ABC’s Shark Tank Mark Cuban; The Bachelor host Chris Harrison; Kunal Nayyar, who plays Raj on The Big Bang Theory; the WPT’s Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten; and poker superstars Doyle Brunson, Antonio Esfandiari, Daniel Negreanu, and Phil Hellmuth, who emceed the event.
Tiger Jam (Tiger’s Poker Night is a part of it) began in 1998 and programs in the Tiger Woods Foundation have benefitted for more than $14 million since its inception. Other events at Tiger Jam included a concert by One Republic and a golf outing.
The poker tournament, however, found South Africa’s Kinesh Pather, an amateur who finished runner-up to Daniel Cates in the WPT Johannesburg Alpha8 $100,000 buy-in tournament earlier this year taking the top honors. Woods did go further this year than last year but his deep run fell short of the final table. Both Negreanu and Esfandiari made it to the final table.
Phillip Phillips put entertainment at the top of the marquee after the tournament ended with a poolside concert. Everyone had a great time as evidenced by some of the following photos — courtesy of the WPT and Joe Giron.
