The 2014 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is underway and the next six weeks will bring a continual flood of tournament reports on every media outlet that revolves around poker. Of course there are other tidbits, flashbacks, and news around the world but let us just say that if you ain't into the WSOP, you need to rethink your poker game. The world's biggest poker festival has begun and that brings us right to the starting point of today's Inside Shuffle.
The World Series of Poker Promised Fun and More
The WSOP shifted the 45th edition of the series into high gear on Tuesday, May 27th, 2014, and hit the throttle as the promised theatrics and fun began.
Two events were set to kick off the 65 event schedule — the $500 buy-in Casino employees No Limit Hold'em event and the three-day $25,000 buy-in Mixed Max No Limit Hold'em event.
But before Howard Greenbaum, the Regional Vice President of Specialty Gaming at Caesars Entertainment Corporation, shot out the “shuffle up and deal” that would officially put the series in action, something else was shot out — hundreds of $1 bills exploded out of air cannons.
The ceiling of the Brasilia Room rained money — and that's how it all started. Check back to see how it progresses every day and how it all ends.

Bill Jordanou is out on Bail
The world just wouldn't seem right if a scam or hoax or cheating scandal concerning a well-known poker pro wasn't cropping up every month or so. Bill Jordanou has stepped up to the plate and did the dirty deed this time around.
In the news reports running across the Internet, Jordanou is touted as being a 'professional poker player' but reading the news points out that he was arrested and is facing 142 charges for a fraud scheme that is alleged to have reaped $100 million through the Commonwealth Bank where homes of victims were foreclosed on — for over a decade!!!
In our eyes, Jordanou is a fraudster and it really has nothing to do with poker but the media loves to rip the poker community. In fact, Jordanou's name did not ring a bell as a professional poker player and we were forced to Google him to see his accomplishments on the green felt.
Prosecutor Luke Exell said the case involved 40 incidents between 2004 and 2013, and about $100 million in total.
Mr. Exell said it was a "particularly complex" matter with the prosecution summary about 250 pages long.

Ronaldo Plays Heads-up Against Bebeto
It's a football and poker moment...er...ah...perhaps a little longer since poker takes longer than a moment to experience the full flavor of what's going on in the game. Twenty years ago football superstars Ronaldo and Bebeto made history when they led Brazil's national team to victory in the 1994 FIFA Football World Cup.
Who could've guess that they would meet again and test their skills in a different arena?
It started with PokerStars promoting its poker mobile application in Brazil. Bebeto — via PokerStars Blog — explained that he had decided to join the initiative and play heads-up against Ronaldo to see if the game of Texas Hold'em was as fascinating as his former teammate has been telling him it is.
"He [Ronaldo] tells me that [poker] is a sport based not on luck, but on a lot of strategic thinking," Bebeto said, "so it makes me curious to understand the game more."
