Who could have known that Tony G would win a seat to European Parliament? And possibly be the world’s greatest hope in bringing poker to the w-h-o-l-e world?

Anyone that can trash talk Ralph Perry while busting him, and get away with it, has our vote. That’s not the only reason we would vote for The G, founder of and Tonybet, but it fits right up there at the top. And on the flip side of that coin, we believe Tony G could be the best thing that ever happened to government – everywhere!

Tony G, "Europe Needs to be Tight-Aggressive!"

Poker pro and Lithuanian businessman turned politician Tony G is readying for his role as a government official. Tony won a seat to European Parliament and when that goal was realized, he also helped the national liberal party to move to a significant 16.55 percent from a very modest 7.17 percent in 2009.

When asked about his success of being Lithuania's second most voted candidate at the European elections, Tony had this to say, "Unlike most politicians, I speak a language people understand."

"We need to become efficient, to make the right investments, and to understand that we are in open competitions with the US. If we want to succeed, we need to outsmart America!" from the lips of Tony G.

UFC President Banned by Palms

There must be some strange, reality altering drugs slipped into casino management's cocktails coffee at the beginning of each shift. Why else would the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas ban Ben Affleck for winning at blackjack? Or more recently, why would the Palms Casino Resort ban — for the second time — UFC president Dana White when he won close to $2 million at the casino during a three-month period?

White was banned by the Palms two years ago for winning but the casino sweet talked him into coming back to end a 22-month boycott by White and the Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters.

Apparently it's OK to play but locking up winnings is not allowed and that's where White made the second mistake. White said, he “beat them for (nearly $2 million), and they asked me not to play anymore.”

Global Poker Index Announces the Global Poker Masters

The Global Poker Index (GPI) sent out the news on Friday — a brand new $10,000 buy-in invitation-only poker tournament named the Global Poker Masters is set to launch with the best 36 players in the world representing their countries.

The GPI's CEO Alex Dreyfus defines it as "the world cup for poker as a sport."

"If we really want to promote poker as a sport, we need an international competition like this one," Dreyfus told "We need something that gives the best players and the best countries the right exposure. With our initiative, we are creating another reason for the industry and mainstream media to keep talking about poker."

Dreyfus sums it up as all the poker events in the world are satellites to the Global Poker Masters but there's a lot more to the story so get ready for a good read. Find it here.
