Event #44: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em was set to run three days but when it got down to heads-up play on Day 3 in the early evening, the dealer kept dealing, and dealing, and dealing until six hours later Jordan Morgan and Evan McNiff decided it was time to call it a night and return the following day.
Day 4 went by like a speeding bullet (in comparison) and only took a little over an hour to find a winner! Jordan Morgan won all the chips, the first-place prize of $478,102, and a gold WSOP bracelet he could add to the gold WSOP Circuit ring he won in 2007.
The chip war between McNiff and Morgan obviously started on the eve of Day 4 and by the time they returned for the finale, they were almost even in chips with Morgan just a tad out in the lead.
The lead changed a few times but not enough to swing the favor of the tournament in either direction. Then McNiff button raised to 320,000 and Morgan pushed all in. McNiff made the call, his tournament life depending on the win, and turned over the . Morgan tabled .
The race was on!
If Morgan won, McNiff was a runner-up. If McNiff won, Morgan would be very short chips!
The board ran out and Morgan's sixes held!
