Football star Luis Suarez may have bitten off more than he can chew this time! His sponsorship contract is "under review." During the world Cup match on Tuesday the Uruguay striker appeared to bite Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini!

888poker released the following on Wednesday on the site's official Twitter account:

Suarez is reported to have bitten Italy's Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder while the referee was not watching as Uruguay and Italy played off a decisive match on Tuesday.

"He bit me, it’s clear, I still have the mark," Chiellini told Italian public television Rai right after the match. "The referee should have blown his whistle and given him a red card, also because he was simulating."

The bite could be very costly for Suarez if it is confirmed by FIFA's investigaion — he may not be allowed to participate in the next stages of the World Cup. Suarez could also stand to lose sponsorship deals with Adidas and headphones supplier Beats who are reported to be considering their contracts with him.

Suarez was signed as a brand ambassador by on May 14th. At the time, said Suarez is "an incredible sporting talent; passionate, competitive, technically gifted, and emotionally invested in the game. It’s those qualities that make him an exciting player to watch, in poker as well as football."

Suarez apparently likes to 'bite' since his controversial behavior has caused other incidents in the past: April 2013 during an English Premier League match, he sunk his teeth into Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic and was banned for 10 matches; November 2010 he bit Otman Bakkal of PSV Eindhoven and was banned by the Dutch FA for seven matches; In 2011 he was fined £40,000 and served with an eight-match ban after using racially abusive language directed at Manchester United's Patrice Evra. contacted 888poker but company spokespersons chose not to comment.
