I puckered Up
Pucker Up 4 Patriots Challenge is a new viral campaign and poker tournament set in motion by pokergives.org in celebration of National Military Family Month. Poker Gives is a charity created by poker players dedicated to providing services to military families in need.
The first event in this campaign is the “Pucker Up 4 Patriots Challenge” fundraiser. Head for your social media and prepare to create some of the fun when you take a photo of yourself “puckering up” in support of our troops. Once you do that, head for the PokerGives.org website and donate any amount. Be sure to post your photo to any social media site tagging @PokerGives and using the #IPuckeredUp4Patriots hashtag. “Challenge” your friends and bring them into event to Pucker Up 4 Patriots too!
The next campaign event takes place on Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, November 11th, 2015, when the Orleans Casino Poker Room will host “Operation Add-On.” An optional $20 Add-on for bonus chips will be available in the daily tournaments and all proceeds benefit Poker Gives. Make sure you get your donation receipt for a tax write off and your stars and stripes lapel pin.
Poker Gives will also host the Poker Jingle Poker Tournament on Saturday, December 12th, at 11:00 AM at the Orleans Casino. The $100 buy-in goes straight to the prize pool. To receive bonus chips for the tournament bring an unwrapped toy for a child 12 and under, or a $20 gift card for any retail or online store, or a $20 donation. All the toys benefit the children of Nellis AFB in Las Vegas.
Dwyte Pilgrim Shocker
News broke that portrays Dwyte Pilgrim as a hustler and fraudster, perhaps worse since he is accused of threatening bodily harm. Aaron Massey has taken a stand by calling out Pilgrim for borrowing money and refusing to pay it back.
As Massey’s side of the story unfolds, Pilgrim has also taken advantage of other players and reportedly used Brian Hastings name to vouch for him in acquiring other loans.
"I immediately send it to Hastings and it turns out that Dwyte had scummed him too," Massey explained to PokerNews.com. "Hastings put Dwyte in some tournaments, including a Purple Chip bounty tournament at Parx that he chopped. Hastings never saw any of the money, and Dwyte claimed that Parx refused to let him cash out. Hastings also confirmed that he would never, and did not vouch for Dwyte.
Pilgrim also gave a statement to PokerNews.com, find more on the story here.
“Seals with Clubs” Chairman Bryan Micon Sentenced
Bryan Micon was fined $25,000 and given up to two years of probation on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015 after entering a guilty plea for operating an interactive gambling system that was unlicensed.
Micon could have faced up to 10 years in state prison and a fine of $50,000 for the criminal charge brought against him by Nevada gambling regulators. The case against Micon is "called the first-of-its-kind state-level prosecution dealing with bitcoin and illegal Internet gambling."
Authorities noted that Bitcoin currency isn't backed by any government; this fact could allow for illegal drug sales and money laundering since transactions are untraceable on the internet without banking records and it lends to anonymity.
