Accomplishments of the PPA During National Poker Week

The Poker Players Alliance announced it in June of 2009 and set out to accomplish quite a bit during National Poker Week. Not only was there to be an online poker petition delivered to President Barack Obama, but PPA state directors and poker pros planned to make a trip to Washington, D.C. between July 19 and 25 to lobby Congress for their support on pro-poker legislation. National Poker Week Plays Out

From the beginning of the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act), passed by Congress in 2006, the game has steadily been played like the original game between Jimmy the Greek and Johnny Moss; new cards are dealt and another hand is played out. The game is in Washington D.C. this week and being played hand for hand during National Poker Week.Close to 100 meetings are being held with members of Congress and their aides. Read more

The Fight Goes to Washington D.C.

The WSOP has played down to nine and the results are available on every online poker site; the final table action takes place in November but there is very important poker action taking place this week in Washington D.C. Linda Johnson Among Poker Pros Heading to Washington, D.C.

The number of professional poker players scheduled to join the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) in Washington, D.C. during National Poker Week continues to grow, but it is the select group that continues to stand up for poker players’ rights that will most certainly be in the U.S. Capital to speak to the issue of poker as a game of skill and its need to be legalized in America. PPA Announces National Poker Week Set for July 19-25

The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) recently revealed that its membership has grown to more than 1.2 million members, and there is no better time than during the World Series of Poker to get the organization’s base involved in a very important process. And with its constant presence at the WSOP in Las Vegas, poker enthusiasts are learning the importance of communicating with their political representatives to express their interest in pushing pro-poker legislation through Congress this year. E.U. Looks to Negotiate After Finding U.S. in Violation of Trade Laws

The United States has been known to use the World Trade Organization when it suits its purposes, as many members of the WTO tend to do, but the European Union has found fault with the U.S. and seems unwilling to allow any disregard for the rules in this circumstance.
