The 2008 World Series of Poker is approaching faster than you think. In less than three months, the biggest series of poker tournaments in the world will kick off at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.First, it’s important to know the schedule, which can be found on the WSOP website. The nine remaining players at the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at Harrah’s Atlantic City were like weary prizefighters, punch-drunk after an 18-hour Day 2. But when the survivors of that marathon settled back around the table, the bust outs came in a flurry, and it took less than five hours to crown John Racener the WSOP Circuit champion, marking the first major tournament victory for the 22-year old poker pro. 118 players settled in at Harrah’s Atlantic City for an 18-hour, Day 2, at the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event. Among those returning to the field were 2006 champion Richard Rosetti, 2007 spring New Orleans Circuit winner Louie Esposito, talk show host Montel Williams and Robert Williamson III. Montel Williams went out in the middle of the pack on Day 2 when Michael Esposito’s pocket Jacks held up against Williams’ A[s]-7[s] to send him packing. Read more

244 players took to the felt at Harrah’s Atlantic City for the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event, including superstars like Cyndy Violette, Andy Black and Robert Williamson III. Many WSOP Circuit regulars were also in the field, including past champions Louie Esposito (New Orleans), Carlos Uz (Indiana) and Rick Rosetti (Atlantic City 2006). The players combined for a $1,195,600 prize pool, with $379,392 going to first place, along with the WSOP Circuit Championship Ring. Read more

Andy Philachack hung around the top of the leader board for two days, squeaking into the final table with one of the smallest stacks. But his patience was ultimately rewarded as he toppled two-day chip leader Josh Arieh to lay claim to the first place prize and the gold ring that goes to the winner of a World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event. Josh Arieh took a big chip lead into Day 2 at the World Series of Poker Circuit New Orleans Main Event, and after a short day that saw the field of 50 dwindle to the final table, he took a big chip lead out of it. Arieh led a Day 2 field that included bracelet winners Brandon Cantu and Ciaran O’Leary, as well as 2006 WSOP-C New Orleans champ Louie Esposito, and saw the field shrink quickly.Cantu and O’Leary were among the early exits, as the field thinned rapidly at Harrah’s New Orleans. 160 players descended on Harrah’s New Orleans in search of a World Series of Poker Circuit Championship ring, including Kido Pham, Brandon Cantu, Sabyl Cohen and Josh Arieh. Defending champion Louie Esposito took to the felt and survived Day 1, as did multiple WSOP bracelet winner, Josh Arieh, who came through the first day with a massive chip lead over the rest of the field.2006 WSOP bracelet winner Brandon Cantu took the chip lead early but finished Day 1 with a very short stack.
