Stateline, NV - When Todd Williamson first sat down at the final table of the fifth event at this year's World Series of Poker Circuit, played a Harvey's Lake Tahoe, he had to realize the formidable challenge that lay ahead. Down to just 35,500 in chips, he looked across the felt and saw the chip leader with 401,000, which amounted to more than a 10-1 chip lead. Not only that, but there were seven other players at the table, each competing for what would be a first victory at a WSOP-related event.

Stateline, NV - Sinh Nguyen made his first final table ever in the $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em event at Harvey Lake Tahoe. After it was over, he had to be thinking that tournament poker is easy. He started off with the chip lead, knocked out six of his eight opponents at the final table, and made a near-mockery of what was expected to be a very tough field and final day.The tournament, part of the World Series of Poker Circuit, was held over a busy holiday weekend and concluded on Veterans Day.

Stateline, NV - Merrick J. Black has lived an interesting life. He's worked on everything from large defense contracts to the space shuttle. Mr. Black is retired now. He lives a comfortable life in a small town located halfway between South lake Tahoe and Sacramento. He spends most of his free time playing poker, hunting and fishing - at least when he's not doing something with his five children and 11 grandchildren.Now, Mr. Black can add a World Series of Poker Circuit tournament victory to his many accomplishments.

Stateline, NV - A record crowd turned out for the Ladies Poker Championship at this year's World Series of Poker Circuit stop, which was held at the Harvey's Lake Tahoe Casino and Resort. The 156 entries marked the largest turnout for a ladies poker tournament in the four years since the WSOP Circuit has been played at Lake Tahoe. Stateline, NV - The World Series of Poker Circuit returned to Northern Nevada in grand style, as the first event of this year's tournament series nearly set a new attendance record. A total of 484 players entered the first event. The no-limit hold'em tournament cost $340 to enter, generating a total prize pool of $140,844. Attendance surpassed last year's mark of 363 players. Only the much-anticipated very first WSOPC event in the 2005 inaugural season - a $220 buy-in no-limit hold'em event -- attracted more entries, at 542.
