It was a bold move by PaddyPower.com but one that promised much more publicity than probability.PaddyPower is an online gaming site based in Europe that boasts of a sportsbook, casino, bingo section, and poker room. Though it is a successful company, the $75 million endorsement offer it made to Tiger Woods came as a surprise to most in the gaming industry. An acceptance would have paid off in publicity alone, most likely, but the possibility that Woods would take the site up on its offer was highly unlikely.

Robbery During PokerStars European Poker Tour’s Berlin Main Event, Kevin MacPhee Triumphs After DelayViewers watching the European Poker Tour’s Main Event in Berlin, Germany through the EPTLive.com live feed (with about 20 people remaining) were quite shocked when a major commotion took place before the feed cut out. For those who were there the scene was much scarier. Anywhere from three to six armed masked men stormed the Grand Hyatt’s Hotel’s Casino.

High Stakes Poker has been living up to its billing of having one of the toughest tables in the history of poker. Going into tonight’s fourth episode, Phil Ivey continued to lead the way with a profit of over $300,000, with Eli Elezra ahead by more than $80,000 and Tom Dwan about $50,000 in the black. Let’s see what happened tonight:Tom Dwan opened the first hand with a raise to $3,200 with K-Q, and Antonio Esfandiari, who had been almost absent for the first few episodes, put in a re-raise to $11,000 with A-J, which Dwan called.

The day started out as it should. It was Day 4 of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour’s Berlin stop. The ballroom at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Berlin was buzzing with excitement as the 20 or so players remaining in the €5,000 buy-in Main Event vied for their spots at the coveted final table. What had become the biggest poker tournament ever held in Germany was looking to be the pride of the EPT as the fourth day played out. And in other parts of the room, a €1,000 buy-in NLHE tournament and a ladies-only tournament played out.That was until noises came from the lobby.

This past Sunday, the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver came to a climatic end when the Canadian hockey team defeated USA 3-2 in an overtime thriller. While most of North America watched the game in the comfort of a home, or at a bar surrounded by fellow fans, most of the world’s best poker players watched the game from their office, the poker table.

Poker2Nite returned to television in its new home on Versus, with the first show of its second season. Joe Sebok and Scott Huff were once again the co-anchors, while Dana Workman presented a number of feature stories during the half-hour, which is clearly geared toward bringing a very young audience over to Ultimate Bet, if this first episode is an indication of what we can expect for the rest of the season.Much was made of the latest in the sometimes entertaining, always-disturbing prop bets that host Sebok makes with Gavin Smith and Jeff Madsen.
