On September 17, 2007, just one day before her 19th birthday, Norwegian player Annette Obrestad, won the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe Main Event; making her the youngest player ever to win a WSOP bracelet.
Annette, born September 18, 1988, began her poker career playing on line at the age of fifteen under the screen-name “Annette_15”. As the story goes, she never deposited any real money on any online site, but got her start after winning $9 in a free-roll and the rest could be history.
In 2006-2007 she won more than $800,000 playing on line, mostly at PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker and was considered one of the best online multi-table tournament players in the world. In 2006 she placed seventh in the PokerStars' World Championship of Online Poker $2500 main event and in November, 2007, after being chip leader for most of the final table she took a disappointing second, worth $431,184, in the PokerStars European Poker Tour Dublin event.
In March of 2008 she beat a field of at least 20,000 players to win first , worth $20,000 in PokerStars $11 buy-in, Sunday Hundred Grand tournament and in June she was victorious in the Betfair Sunday $125k GTD Event netting her $35,000.
Although Annette has made her mark in the world of poker amassing total tournaments winnings in excess of $2,500,000 and serving as a member of Team Betfair, she will not be able to sit at a table in the Las Vegas, WSOP until 2010 when she will be 21 years old.
