Charles “Chip” Jett’s poker skills, his dedication and his aggressive style of play have made him one of the most feared tournament players around—having the stamina of an Iron Man he plays an average of 300 poker events per year.
Born September 22, 1974 in Scottsdale, Arizona, Chip attended dealing school at the age of 18. He put his dealing skills to work at the nearby Fort McDowell Casino, where he rapidly moved up from dealer to floor man, to shift boss, to proposition player—he held that job for six years.
Jett already had a reputation as a tough tournament competitor, but he proved it to the world when he was named Best All-Around Tournament Player at the 2001 L.A. Poker Classic for making the final table in five events. It was doubly impressive because of the wide range of games he placed in— 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, Omaha Hi/Lo, H.O.R.S.E. and No-Limit Hold’em.
After two wins at Foxwoods in 2002, he cemented his place on the professional poker scene even more in 2003, reaching 16 final tables in major tournaments, including two World Series of Poker (WSOP) events and a 2nd place finish to
Howard Lederer at the
PartyPoker Millions Cruise, winning nearly $176,000. That same year, Jett claimed the title at the California State Poker Championship and was given
Phil Hellmuth’s Champion of the Year Award.
Jett continues to score in tournament play, with countless money finishes and more than 30 more final tables to his credit, he has life time tournament wins of nearly $2 million.
Jett, nicknamed “capnncoke”, usually has his blonde hair slicked back and wears shades when he’s at the tables. Jett lives in Las Vegas with his wife
Karina and their two children; daughter Athena and son Apollo. They are both professional poker players representing
Full Tilt Poker—the couple made history in 2005 at the London Open, “Battle of the Sexes” at Billingsgate Market by being the first husband and wife to make the final table in a major tournament.
